Latest ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Clip: Anne Hathaway Prissy Catwoman?
If you’ve watched the MTV Movie Awards a couple of days ago, you’ve seen how Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Gary Oldman and Christopher Nolan introduced an exclusive clip for The Dark Knight Rises. Having watched this trailer, I made some kind of judgement.
Christian Bale is undoubtedly super-cool, there’s no need to praise him even more. Who I want to focus on are Tom Hardy and Annie, for sure.
Oh, I could watch Tom Hardy/Bane for hours, especially where he’s on the plane. That part looks so cool to me. Sexy villain!
As for Anne as Catwoman… Yes, she can act. But I think that Christopher Nolan made mistake by choosing her as Selina Kyle. The problem with this director is, he never gets his female casting choices quite right. Batman Begins? Katie Holmes. The Dark Knight? Maggie Gyllenhaal. And Anne here looks like January Jones in X-Men: First Class – the weakest link of an otherwise awesome movie. If I were asked whom I’d recommend – I’d easily vote for Kate Beckinsdale or hell, even Mila Kunis (despite Mila’s fat right now).
Anne Hathaway is not appropriate for portraying Catwoman.
Anne Hathaway is in no way the proper Batman choice just from her credentials alone. Selina’s role requires someone who can bring the sexy. As beautiful as she is, I’ve never found AH to be sensual or sexy.
And Anne’s reputation as a prissy princess typecast is too engrained in everyone. Even if she does a wonderful job, no one will take her seriously.
