Who said it’s out? Vintage and military styles rock!
In the past, there has been a debate about certain fashion styles which has generated the question whether a vintage and military look is still relevant or working in the 21st century. Given that today’s society is influenced very much by technological progress, and is also very much aware of political conflicts in other parts of the world, it is reasonable to ask whether an orientation towards the old, or the display of military styles is a wise idea or not; or if exactly the same situation and circumstance is even the justification for wearing it publicly. A touchy subject, one could say.
However, looking at the celebrities of our time gives a hint at the answer. In fact, both the vintage and the military style have survived the times and have been reshaped accordingly. Here are some examples.
Female vintage style after the year 2000
One of the most popular representatives of vintage style clothes is Drew Barrymore. She has frequently been seen with vintage dresses decorated with beautiful gemstones and embroideries and often designed by the most famous fashion labels. Her vintage look gives her an air of girlishness and innocence and also plays with her feminine features to her advantage. Her round face also fits this style perfectly. She often underlines her style with a hair clip or a veil. Accessories like that add up to the overall style and when imitating it, necklaces, bracelets and vintage watches as are available from the manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre can be really helpful and glamorous. They are the little detail which can make all the difference between a mediocre and a perfect style.
Men and women in military style
When thinking of the military style, many people imagine the camouflage look which was very popular in the late 1990s. However, this style is not the only part of military fashion. Sometimes a dark blue shirt and a navy cap as worn recently by Rihanna can have a similar association without looking too trashy. In her case as well, it is the accessories, that is the cap and one of the military watches she is wearing which add up to the expression of a devotion towards the army style. A male superstar who is equally fond of wearing army-style trousers and shirts is David Beckham, who even posed in military-style clothes in front of cameras. Apart from underlining his masculine style, it also clarifies that there is no need to shy away from being dressed like a soldier these days.
