Unconventional: First weightless wedding

World's first zero gravity wedding was held June 20, 2009

This past Saturday, June 20, two lifelong space fans, New Yorkers Erin Finnegan and Noah Fulmor tied the knot aboard a specially-equipped Boeing 727 (nicknamed “The Vomit Comet”) to become the world’s first couple to marry in zero gravity conditions.

To recreate the weightless experience without going into space, the plane executed parabolic flight maneuvers, climbing sharply and descending several times during the 90 minute long flight, the source reported.

Noah kept saying he wanted to get married in space,” Finnegan wrote on the couple’s blog. “We probably won’t be able to afford to go to space for at least another 25 to 50 years (maybe for our anniversary?) so when the Zero G plane opened to the public, I suggested we get married on one of their flights as a compromise.”

The couple confessed they did want to have an unconventional wedding and were ready to throw a lot of money on the ceremony to prove that private space travel is possible and is “a positive thing.” They paid $5,400 per person for themselves and 10 guests to take the ride.

It was outstanding, and everything we were hoping for,” Noah Fulmor, 31, said after the ceremony.

To make sure the couple felt ok and comfortable during eight full minutes of weightlessness, both were wearing specially made attire. The bride’s dress was made by Japanese designer Eri Matsui specially for microgravity as it had pants underneath the skirt.

Groom’s custom made tuxedo by J. Lucas Clothiers had tails crafted specifically to take advantage of zero gravity conditions.

Furthermore, when exchanging vows, the couple also exchanged specially designed rings made by jeweler Chris Ploof with pieces of metal from the Gibeon meteorite that fell in Namibia 30,0000 years ago.

Love the idea, love unconventional weddings, though don’t really think I could go that far with mine.
But guess this kind of a wedding ceremony can become hugely popular trend with celebs, they surely can afford it.
