McQueen’s wrapped in time pre-fall ’09 collection
Fashion is like an old grandma’s chest. There are a lot of things kept inside and whenever you need something you just pick it out of the box and viola, you have something to inspire you for new creations, something that will stun everyone and prove you genius.
Alexander McQueen sought his Pre-Fall 2009 collection inspiration in Dickensian London making it the main theme of the line, saying he was “thinking with a 19th-century head on” when designing.
WWD.com reports that McQueen’s collection is pretty rich as he was trying to follow the 19th century aristocratic woman’s style of changing dresses up to five times a day, and thus creating many outfit options for any hour of the day from hunting looks to fishnet evening gowns.
The main accessories of the themed line are 19th century inspired bowler hats, walking sticks and gloves and ankle boots.
I like the collection. It’s very McQueen, very modern and refreshing at the same time. Something new to see at catwalk shows. Something original for a change.
