Lady Gaga Before She Got Famous

Craziest outfits, endless talent, boldness, mega hits, shocking behaviour, and tons of rumors – this is what Lady Gaga is. She created her Born This Way album because Gaga claims to have been born a “freak.” All in all Lady Gaga is Lady Gaga! But looking at her pics from the times she wasn’t popular we can see that her style choices weren’t always as extreme as a dress made of meat.

I tried to bring Lady Gaga’s younger years pics together in one post. And I came to conclusion that Stephanie Germanotta looked much better before all the gimmicks. I’m probably one of the few people who dislikes Lady Gaga, but I’d be more impressed if she had a little less attention-seeking images and a little more substance.

I know that will probably piss a few people off, but I just feel she is a very clever product of marketing. Kudos for her for figuring out a gimmick that works. Only time will tell if it will last over time.

Below are the pics of the then-19-year-old Gaga were reportedly taken at her parents apartment on the Upper East Side by Malgorzata Saniewska, who was one of Gaga’s co-workers at the restaurant where she worked.

Saniewska told CNN:

At that time, she gave me a CD of her first single, and I listened to it and I was really impressed. And she’s a beautiful girl. Based on her looks and her personality I thought (a photo shoot) would be great fun. I knew she was a singer, so our focus was her and her very first piano… She’s a good model, obviously.”

What I find interesting is how Gaga is posing in these photos, there’s an amateur sort of sexuality on display here that isn’t really present in any of the singer’s recent images or videos. Sure, Lady Gaga has appeared basically naked numerous times in the media, but she always seems in control of herself and her sexuality. These photos feel less empowered and it’s an interesting exercise to see how the pop star has evolved in only a few short years.
