Pitt, Jolie & Ledger – Oscar 09 nominees revealed

I can’t say I was surprised to find it out. Think everyone expected something of the kind.
Nominees for the 81st Academy Awards were announced last night with some of my favorite A-listers leading the nominations.
Some statistics at first. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has 13 nominations, The Dark Knight and Slumdog Millionaire‘s nominations total in 8 for each of the films. Looks like Benjamin Button was the coolest movie this year! At least if look at the noms it has.
Hope the movie gets an Oscar for Achievements in make up, cause they were great in make up, really.

Brad Pitt is nominated for Best Actor for his great performance in the movie, his partner Angelina Jolie’s got the nod as the Best Actress in the Leading role for The Changeling.
Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime. To receive a nomination from the Academy on top of that is a privilege beyond any expectation. It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition,” she said meaning Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Melissa Leo (Frozen River), Meryl Streep (Doubt) and Kate Winslet (The Reader), who she shares the nomination with.

Heath Ledger is nominated for the Best Supporting Actor for his outstanding portraying of The Joker in The Dark Knight.
Every time I think of Heath, I’m split down the middle,” Josh Brolin who’s also nominated in this category, said. “I think of his performance. I think of the work that he’s done, and then the fact that this tragedy happened. It’s an uncomfortable situation, for sure, but it makes sense to me, because I thought he did a bang-out job,” he added saying that the acclaim for Ledger was bittersweet.
