Finally! Jessica Simpson Gives Birth to Baby Girl Maxwell Drew Johnson!

Oh my god, it has finally happened! I really thought that baby would drive a mini bus out of there, but it’s just a baby girl! Jess and her fiance Eric Johnson welcomed a baby girl named Maxwell Drew Johnson! What? Boyish name? Oh, she’s doing that baby girl no favors by giving her a boy’s name. While Drew pays tribute to Jessica’s side of the family – baby apparently takes her middle name from Jessica’s mother Tina, whose maiden name is Drew, Maxwell is Eric’s middle name. Haha, the poor girl will be correcting people her entire life, I guess. “No, I’m a girl.” “No, I’m a woman”. “No, that’s MS. Johnson, not MR. Johnson.” What a pair of idiot parents.

Okay, Maxwell Drew was born in Los Angeles yesterday morning and weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 ounces. Jessica posted on her website Tuesday, announcing the birth of baby Maxwell.

We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This is been the greatest experience of our lives.”

This is the first child for the couple, who began dating in summer 2010 and announced their engagement in November 2010. Though they’ve been engaged over a year, the wedding hasn’t happened just yet. Simpson and her husband-to-be put their wedding plans on the back burner for now, especially after it was fairly obvious that Simpson was pregnant last fall.

After many weeks of speculation, Simpson took to her website to officially announce that yes, she was going to be a mom. Posting a photo of herself dressed as a mummy – it was Halloween- and holding her stomach, she wrote:

It’s True! I am going to be a mummy.”

After revealing this news, Simpson was fairly open about her pregnancy, telling People she loved being pregnant. She said in November:

I can’t wait to have more kids. I love being pregnant. I have such an incredible connection with myself and with my body that I’ve never had before.”

That was pretty evident when she posed nude – and very pregnant – on the cover of Elle’s April issue, and revealed she and Johnson were expecting a baby girl.

Jessica’s sister Ashlee told People magazine today:

Bronx and I are in love with Maxwell already! Jessica has wanted to be a mom since we were little girls and I couldn’t be more excited for her and Eric!”

The news was great, minus baby’s name! Congrats to the happy family!
