Vanessa Paradis Was Indignant Over Johnny Depp’s Success

Johnny Depp’s relationship with Vanessa Paradis collapsed because she grew to resent the success she inspired the actor to achieve. And the couple are said to have called it quits in 2010, after Paradis decided that she could not go on, but decided not to announce it.

According to a source, the former model and singer, 39, urged the actor to take mainstream roles, such as 2003′s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Until then, despite being a huge name, Depp had been inclined to more obscure and cult-like roles. But his step into the world of blockbusters paid off handsomely. The film hauled in more than $300 million and turned Depp into one of the world’s most profitable leading men.

But Vanessa grew unhappy – despite the fact she was reaping the rewards of his $20 million a film career. It didn’t help that Vanessa, who had a huge hit in Europe with Joe Le Taxi, was watching her singer career lie dormant. A source told Us Magazine magazine:

Depp, who earned more than $75 million in 2010, reacted to the enmity by becoming resentful himself. The source said:

Nothing Johnny did was ever good enough for Vanessa. When he was working, she wasn’t happy. And when he wasn’t working, he was called a slob for not doing enough for the kids and her family.They’d have blazing fights. Vanessa would take her frustrations out on him. And he started to drink heavily.”

Though they continued to drift apart, Depp and Paradis always put their children’s needs first. The friend said:

It broke Johnny’s heart that the family he loves so much was becoming fractured. Johnny was heartbroken. But they agreed the kids’ lives shouldn’t be affected. That’s why they didn’t announce it.”

Since then, Depp, 49, has found love again with his Rum Diary costar, Amber Heard, 26. And some claim they are 100 percent dating and he treats her really well.
