It’s Officially: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis Split Up

Oh, it seems to me that this is the end for Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis after fourteen years together… The couple confirmed via a publicist who said that the pair has “amicably separated.”

Depp’s publicist was adamant about the privacy of the couple who are going through a rough time, telling Entertainment Tonight:

Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”

First break up rumors popped up in May. At the time Depp denied their relationship was hitting a rough patch at the London premiere for his film Dark Shadows, since then there were reports that the couple were still trying to make it work despite living in two separate houses since their move from France to Los Angeles. Since then, Johnny was linked to Mary-Kate Olsen, Angelina Jolie and Eva Greene, and Amber Heard.

Tabloids started questioning the nature of their relationship when Paradis’ public presence in Depp’s life slowly started to deteriorate – the couple was last spotted together in 2010! Although Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have always been private about their relationship, Paradis was always a silent figure of support on red carpets for Johnny.

Earlier in the year Vanessa Paradis spoke with Stylist magazine about her thoughts on the realities of love:

I believe in love, and I want to believe that it lasts forever. But I’m like everyone else, you have to take things a day at a time and you can never know what comes next. All you can do is hope and love and live.”

In another interview with Elle magazine, the ordinarily private Vanessa went on to explain her thoughts on marriage in general, stating:

I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect … I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be – we have two kids. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without.”

The couple started their relationship in 1998 and share two children together Lily-Rose, 12, and John “Jack” Depp, 10.
