Arnold Schwarzenegger, wife split after 25 years of marriage

Arnold Schwarzenegger and wife Maria Shriver split

Former California Governor and Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife of 25 years Maria Shriver have announced their split in the joint message released Monday.

The couple who have four children together, are now taking time to “determine the next step” though it’s been revealed that Maria Shriver has moved out of the family home in Brentwood. Though the former couple refuse to comment on the reason for the split, sources close to Shriver say Maria has been “miserable” in her marriage as she and Arnold barely saw each other and spent very little time together because of his movie projects and political career.

Despite the difficulties they’ve been dealing with in their marriage, both Schwarzenegger and Shriver have always been a picture of family happiness, so their split comes as a huge surprise to me and many others.

This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us,” Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver said in the joint statement. “After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together. At this time, we are living apart while we work on the future of our relationship. We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives. We consider this a private matter and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public.”

Though his family life is in huge crisis, his professional life is back on track. Two weeks ago there were rumors Arnold was getting back as Terminator in the new installment of the franchise. It’s also been revealed he’s signed on to star in the drama Cry Macho as a “down-on-his-luck horse trainer hired to kidnap his former boss’ young son from his ex-wife in Mexico.”
