Venus Williams defeated her sister Serena Williams at the finale of the most exciting and the most prestigious championship in Wimbledon, England.
On Saturday at the All England Club at the Centre Court Venus won her fifth Wimbledon title. The girl showed her little sis Serena who’s the older sister!

Venus said she played with persistent awareness of her opponent because:
At no point am I ever able to forget Serena, because I have the ultimate respect for her game and I have a lot of respect for her serve. If I was playing anyone else I wouldn’t have to face what I had to face today, so it’s impossible to forget.”
Venus Williams might not have known how to respond to her championship Saturday, a 7-5, 6-4 victory over her sister, but that’s fine. Wimbledon’s history spoke quite well on her behalf, for Venus is more than just a champion here. She’s among the very few players who claim ownership.
It was Venus’ fifth Wimbledon title, which is more than McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Margaret Court or Chris Evert.
Now, the 28-year-old can set her sights on six - Billie Jean King or Suzanne Lenglen; and seven - Steffi Graf.

And as for the men’s finale Rafael Nadal ended Roger Federer’s five-year reign at Wimbledon on Sunday, winning a five-set marathon to claim his first title at the All England Club. Nadal is the first Spaniard to win Wimbledon since Manolo Santana in 1966.
