Gwen Stefani, the singer, the former No Doubt front voice and a noted designer with her own fashion label L.A.M.B. is set to reinterpret Dorothy’s famous ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.

Warner Bros. chose Gwen and other 18 designers to work on the classics of Disney’s and all for the upcoming 70th anniversary of the legendary movie made in 1939 upon the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum in 1900. The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection will be unveiled to the world on the special event on September 4 next year and will take its place at New York’s famous department store Saks Fifth Avenue.

Remember Gwen Stefani’s music video ‘What You’re Waiting For?’ and the theme she chose for it? She was playing Alice In Wonderland. Singer and designer is now a mother of one son she’s expecting another baby this summer. Gwen will definitely create the most magical ruby shoes and there is no doubt why she was put first on the list.

The 19 pairs of magic shoes - designed by fashion icons including Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino and Oscar de la Renta - will then be displayed as part of New York Fashion Week, in the city’s Bryant Park.

Then, they will be taken around the US on a tour and then will be auctioned off. As you may have guessed, the proceeds will go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
