Nick Jonas: Broadway Will Always Hold a Special Place in My Heart!
Nick Jonas has admitted that Broadway will always have a special place in his heart. Nick, who is current starring on the stage as J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying revealed that it was where he started out in the business and he was so pleased to have been given the role in the Broadway production. Nick previously performed on Broadway in Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, and Annie Get Your Gun. The youngest of the three Jonas Brothers at 19, Nick also acted with his siblings in the Camp Rock Disney movies. Jonas said:
It’s where I started, so it’s got a special place in my heart. The thing that attracted me most is that it’s one of the only roles that lets a young man lead the show. Some incredible actors have played the role before and it’s such an honour to be considered, to be able to go up and find my [J. Pierrepont] Finch, and hopefully play the role well.”
There is something really amazing about this character. He never lies but is able to work his way up the ladder of success in a really crafty way. His real goal is to have a career in business and he’s so driven and incredibly passionate about wanting to have an amazing career. It’s a really cool role and something I am really excited to dig into.”
Nick’s Broadway debut is the latest solo venture from one of the Jonas Brothers, and he said in a recent interview that it is unlikely the group will be producing any new material in the near future. He told Parade magazine:
We have been in a different season as far as doing things on our own and really loving those opportunities to have the opportunity and the time to do those things that we’re passionate about as individuals.”
He’s taking over the part from Glee star Darren Criss, who performed through Sunday, helping the show take in $4 million in three weeks, according to Entertainment Weekly. Before Criss, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe played Finch.
Jonas is under contract to perform in How to Succeed… at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre though at least July 1. So, if you are a fan of Nick Jonas, go ahead to Broadway!
