Lady GaGa tops Google searches 2009
According to Google Zeitgeist, Lady GaGa, Susan Boyle, Michael Jackson, Twitter and swine flu top this year’s most popular Google searches.
Google Zeitgeist summarizes what Americans are most interested in during the year and usually reveals the results shortly before the end of the year. To make the classification more specific Google breaks the queries into a number of categories, including fastest-rising searches in Google.com, Google News and Google Images.
All three showed the continuing public fascination with social networking and celebrities in 2009.
According to Google’s Marissa Mayer, Lady GaGa has been ranked the fastest rising among image searches.
People are always wondering what she looks like. She looks different all the time,” Mayer said.
The top five fastest-rising searches in Google.com also include Michael Jackson, Twitter, Facebook and Hi5, and Hulu, the free online video service.

4. Adam Lambert
3. Jon and Kate
2. Swine flu
1. Britain’s Got Talent runner-up and fastest selling new artist Susan Boyle.
As to Google Image searches, Lady GaGa tops the list followed by New Moon (Twilight Saga: New Moon), Michael Jackson, Megan Fox and Selena Gomez.
GaGa rocks this year! I definitely rank her the Hottest Person 2009!
In related news, if PerezHilton.com is to believed, Ask.com‘s top searched queries 2009 include those asking if Lady GaGa a hermaphrodite and if Adam Lambert is straight, while the question: “Is Miley pregnant?” is the top search.
