Heather Mills donates $1 million to feed
Some say it’s a show off that Heather Mills donated $1 million to a local charity in the South Bronx to provide food to shelters.
Many New Yorkers think of Heather as a gold digger and perhaps this charity move is a way to buy herself off. Whatever the talk is, I think what a matter is that over 2,800 children living in some of the poorest neighborhoods in NYC are now provided with healthy food.
On the menu were meat substitutes including burgers, hot dogs and chicken cutlets all made from soy. Ms Mills plans to donate three years’ worth of “meatless meats” to families in the area.
The new resident of NYC, Heather Mills is a bit odd girl out for her divorce reputation.
Over the weekend, former model and ex-wife of Sir Paul McCartney cooked a vegan barbeque lunch for the low-income families. She is now set to receive honors from Congressman Josi Serrano.
A spokesperson for the charity says:
The reaction in the community to this donation is, ‘Wow!’ It enables us to provide over 2,800 children living in some of the poorest neighborhoods in NYC with good, healthy food.”
By the way, Linda McCartney, Sir Paul’s first wife who died of cancer 10 years ago, was an animal rights activist who introduced The Beatles to vegetarianism in 1975 before going on to author vegetarian cookbooks and launch a line of meat-free frozen meals.
