Forbes counts dead celebs’ money

The King is dead! Long live the King! Dead celebrities keep on making money years after their death. Each year Forbes makes a list of the dead stars, sometimes close to Halloween.

Spooky, huh?

The “Top-Earning Dead Celebrities” article lists 13 famous persons who altogether earned $194 million over the past year.

The number one dead richie is Elvis Presley.

This year is his 30th dead anniversary. “…the Memphis Flash earned a whopping $52 million in the past year. That’s more than some of the music industry’s biggest living acts command. For example, Justin Timberlake pulled in $44 million last year, and Madonna earned $40 million.”

The new faces among the dead are Paul Newman and Heath Ledger.

Just earlier this year Heath died of overdose. His latest movie the Dark Knight made him the legendary Joker of all times. “With the film grossing $991 million in box-office revenue worldwide, we estimate his earnings at $20 million,” writes Forbes.com.

As far as for Paul Newman’s Own line of salad dressings and spaghetti sauces had sales of more $120 million last year. After the guys at Forbes calculated, it must be $5 million that Paul earned in the past year.

Other dead big money makers include Albert Einstein, Charles Schulz, Marvin Gaye, Johnny Cash, Marylin Monroe and James Dean.
