ELLE names Emma Watson Style Icon at 2011 Elle Style Awards
Harry Potter star, fashion designer and Brown student Emma Watson was honored with the top award at the annual Elle Style Awards held in London last night. Designer Vivienne Westwood presented Emma, 20, with the Style Icon award praising her for her distinct individual look.
Elle’s editor Lorraine Candy explained what they in Elle believed made Watson stylish:
We always say at Elle, ‘It’s not what you wear, it’s the way you wear it’, and she’s got such spirit, Emma. I think that makes her stylish,” Candy said.
(Looking at other 2011 Elle Style Awards winners it becomes clear that Emma didn’t have much competition)
In her acceptance speech young actress confessed she loved fashion and just tried to make it fun:
Fashion is something that I love. I try not to think about it too much. I try and block all that off and I just do what I love and just have fun with it. I’ve definitely been feeling the pressure a bit more recently but it’s just fun for me,” Emma Watson said.
For her big winner appearance Emma opted for a nude mini dress with show-stopping cutout design by Hakaan, nude pumps, slick hairstyle and bright make up. I’m so in love with her wire bracelet!
P.S. Style Icon presenter Vivienne Westwood was embarrassed to admit she didn’t know who Emma Watson was. Can’t believe she was serious!
