Boyzone member died in Majorka
Stephen Gately, one of two lead singers in Irish pop band Boyzone, was found dead in his apartment in Majorca, Spain, on Saturday afternoon.
His body was found by his partner Andew Cowles, whom he married in 2006.
According to local police, “there were no signs of violence or evidence of suicide or any obvious evidence pointing to another probable cause of death such as the use of drugs.”
Gately, 33, is presumably died in his sleep following a night out and having a few drinks at a nightclub in Palma on Friday night.
We are completely devastated by the loss of our friend and brother, Stephen. We have shared such wonderful times together over the years and were all looking forward to sharing many more,” Gately’s fellow band members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch said in the released statement. “Stephen was a beautiful person in both body and spirit. He lit up our lives and those of the many friends he had all over the world. Our love and sympathy go out to Andrew and Stephen’s family. We love you and will miss you forever, ‘Steo’.”
