Bono named Man of Peace
U2 frontman Bono keeps getting awards for his humanitarian activities. Last night he was honored with the Man of Peace prize for his efforts in dealing with African debt, disease and poverty. The award was presented during the 9th Nobel Peace Prize Summit held in Paris, France.
This is a very big award for me, because let’s be honest this is as close as I am going to get—as close as a rock star is ever going to get to the Nobel Peace Prize,” Bono said in his speech.
Nobel Peace Prize is one of the most prestigious awards of the kind. According to Alfred Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize should be awarded “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”
Bono does deserve it. Do you agree?
