Beyonce Named People’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2012

New mom Beyonce has reason for jubilation – the singer has been named the World’s Most Beautiful Woman 2012 by People. This marks the ninth time Beyonce has made the mag’s coveted list. Bey joined in the 23rd annual issue to fellow ‘Most Beautiful Woman’ Hall of Famers Julia Roberts (13 times), Nicole Kidman (10 times) and Mad Men‘s actress Jessica Pare – a first timer on the mag’s list. The new mum, who welcomed her first daughter Blue Ivy Carter in January, is thrilled with the honour saying:

I feel more beautiful than I’ve ever felt because I’ve given birth. I have never felt so connected, never felt like I had such a purpose on this earth. The best thing about having a daughter is having a true legacy. The word ‘love’ means something completely different now.”

People magazine named Beyonce the World’s Most Beautiful Woman for 2012, describing her as a force of nature, style icon and proud mother.

I wondered when People mag’s this tradition began – it turned out that 22 years ago! Julia Roberts has won it four times in the past two decades! Only three men have made the cover and they include: Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, and Leonardo DiCaprio. They were all honored in consecutive years, from 1996 to 1998 respectively. The first person to ever receive the honor was Michelle Pfeiffer in 1990. She has received the honor twice.
