2009 – Another glamorous year in Hollywood

2009 is almost over so here comes my annual list of things, events and people that have impressed me, amazed me or upset me during the year.

BREAKTHROUGH STAR OF THE YEAR

I’m thinking Taylor Lautner and the guys from Twilight Saga: New Moon. The movie’s premiere has become one of the hottest movie events of the year, while 17 year old Taylor has become a real celebrity with great abs and biceps. From redcarpet events to hosting SNL and allegedly modeling for Giorgio Armani, this is a very special year for Lautner. And I’m not the only one who thinks so.

SCANDAL OF THE YEAR

That’s the last photo of Rihanna and Chris Brown together. It was made on February 8, 2009 shortly before Chris battered Ri in his car leaving her with horrible bruises on the face and months of public speculations and excessive media attention.

Rihanna came back triumphantly, while Chris’s attempts to revive his good guy reputation face bitter criticism.

Chris Brown/Rihanna assault case is my #1 scandal of the year.

ANTICIPATION OF THE YEAR

This year I looked forward to seeing New Moon, Inglourious Basterds and Avatar. These three movies became the highest grossing flicks of the year with two of them (Basterds and Avatar) standing all chances to get an Oscar or two at next year’s Academy Awards ceremony.

As to next year’s most anticipated, I say Alice In Wonderland 3D. Looking forward to March 5th premiere!

HOTTEST COUPLE 2009

Surprise, surprise. They’ve graced tabloid covers so many times this year with so many rumors swirling about their relationship that we still don’t know the truth. So are they or aren’t they? New Moon‘s Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are the hottest celebrity couple 2009.

OK, R Pattz’s co-star Taylor Lautner also makes the list. His 3 month fling with Taylor Swift is one of the hottest celebrity couple events of the year. So sad they’ve broken up.

BABY OF THE YEAR

It’s baby boom! 2009 is the year when some of your favorite Hollywood girls became sexy A-list mummies.

It’s hard to pick the baby to top the list. Let’s say all of them – Gisele Bundchen’s Benjamin, Kourtney Kardashian’s Mason, Kendra Willkinson’s Hank, Adriana Lima’s Valentina, Heidi Klum’s Lou, Nicole Richie’s Sparrow and others – share the baby of the year title.

ARTIST OF THE YEAR

I’m 100% certain it’s Taylor Swift. Her album has topped charts, she was nominated for most prestigious awards and was named artist of the year. She really is. 8 Grammy noms prove my point.

TABLOID FAVORITE

They tried to keep it low and private this year – raising six kids and doing career must be a difficult task to accomplish. Still, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, aka Brangelina have made dozens of headlines this year. Break up rumors, you know. Regardless of what media say, they’re still together and going strong cause they know the secret of long lasting relationships. Beat it Jennifer!

SENSATION OF THE YEAR

As long as in March 2009 she was a nobody from Scotland. Now she’s a rising star with a fantastic voice and outgoing nature. 47 year old spinster made headlines in April during her Britain’s Got Talent audition and amazing ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ rendition. As of now, Susan Boyle is living her dream and I’m so happy for her. Go Susan!

OOPS OF THE YEAR

Just curious how many mistresses he’s really had. Tiger Wood’s infidelity scandal is the hottest scoop of the last months of 2009. Losing endorsement deals seems like the least harmful thing to happen to Woods ever since his first mistress went public with the affair. Tiger is the biggest turkey of the year for me.

TRAGEDY OF THE YEAR

RIP Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, Natasha Richardson, David Carradine, DJ Am, Farrah Fawcett, Jett Travolta, John Hughes, Lucy Gordon, Stephen Gately

PERSON OF THE YEAR

She’s a rule breaking extravagant princess of pop. There’s no way I can imagine 2009 without Lady GaGa.

She’s the Google’s top search with lots of celebrity fans and 8 million records sold worldwide. From nobody to the world’s most talked about singer. Lady GaGa is definitely my person of the year.
