Can elegance beat its gentle power through shiny metallic fabric the coming fall season? Oh, yes, definitely! Giorgio is doing magic – he mixes that what two decades ago was cool and funky but flushed down the toilet in 90s. He brings it back and no one does better. Working women, remember those days? Now, go ahead change into the elegant works of Armani Prive collection, and this time the trend is eternal.

Elegant and easy wear is Giorgio Armani’s unforgettable signature. During the Paris Fashion Week his show opened with a concise essay on what he has always been known for: elegant and easy pantsuits.

It was so 80s, not exactly the instructed tailoring with which he first captured the loyalty of business ladies. It was tuned into more feminine yet more sophisticated look making a woman living in 2008-2009 a strong independent coquette.

Giorgio’s gorgeous trumpet-sleeved jackets with a great new cut of ankle-grazing, high-waist pleated trousers are so much ‘gentleman lady’.

Giorgio’s suits turned into contrasting pieces of powder-pink tops and menswear fabric bottoms and vice versa, he neatly consigned the dour look of corporate uniform to the past.

For full-on event dressing, he has countless solutions in beading and chiffon. Best is the simplest: a strapless column, half black, half white, and tied with a velvet bow under the bust. The minimalist old school glamour, says Sarah Mower.

Bravo!

This is my most favorable evening gowns designer ever. Elie Saab is the man whose dress I would love to wear to an extremely lavish date in some Middle Eastern palace and … actually I would love to be taken to a dinner by him. He is such a man! His grayish hair, his years only adorn him. This lebanese designer is a synonym to luxury and modernity.

In Paris on July, 2nd I once again fell in love with his works. Remember his Spring/Summer 2008 collection? Well, his Fall 2008 is nothing less than breathtaking. There were and there are debates about the new wave of more casual haute couture, but whatever the opinions are, we all admit it is beautiful and it is that one designer a princess would go to!

Elie Saab was an indie designer, but his first big scene statement was marked in 2002 at the Oscar ceremony. It was shining in his gown. This designer knows how to make a gown be worthy of a Queen.

Dozen meters of ruffles made of taffeta and georgette, and those pleating and one shoulder detail. Even Galliano hasn’t gotten there this Paris Fashion Week. Saab is fresher and more luxurious, yet keeps royal elegance.

Michelangelo provided him with a color chart vaguely matched to the blues and browns of Renaissance art, one print of clouds and cerulean sky, and an excuse for letting loose with extravagant flourishes of drapery.”

- says Sarah Mower of Style.com

Bunchy jutting bustier, fabric rosettes, and floor-sweeping chiffon skirts – those silhouettes made the runway the biggest parade of gowns. Elie Saab is a fashion history with his greatest works he made it to an icon.

In Paris on July 1, 2008, Ricardo Tisci at Givenchy has done the tricky balance that couture demands. He developed the recognizable signature of the brand under his guidance, and at the same time poured out fantasy.

His colors are from the tobacco browns of gauchos to the vivid pinks; folkloric alpaca blanket stripes, and patterned knits of Inca culture.

Ricardo’s tailoring alternates between wide-cut, dark khaki pants with luxe bombers and leather jackets and pin-slim long jackets and fitted vests worn over leggings.

In August designer plans a trip to Peru and his 2008 Fall collection is set on the alike theme.

his growing audience has learned to love about him: his young, modern, and urban take on chic dressing, punctuated with incisive tailoring and a flair for intense shots of decoration.”

-says Sarah Mower of Style.com

His purple asymmetric dress is adorable, but the series of black lace gowns are the glamorous hit. On top of that put on an exclusive leather biker jacket and you will look like a million. I see wearing it.

Tisci’s Givenchy has gained its new identity this fall. Soft feminity hidden under the bold, no, rough statement.

To the one - shoulder assymetry Ricardo has added a hood and a little fur is just fine.

This year’s works of Stephane Rolland have really surprised the fashion industry in the best way possible. Firstly, his Summer 2008 is amazing in shiny sparkling fabrics. He’s got it all:

Elegance

Boldness

One - shoulder strap

Being relatively young designer in high fashion, Stephane Rolland has made his statement at the 2008 Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week by presenting his Fall Winter 2008 - 2009 collection.

It is this young designer who is truly the future of fashion, as an increasing number of clients are looking for fresh styles and modern ideas to bring life back into the historically appreciated art of Haute Couture. Stephane is more up to date and the way he modernizes details makes me feel the new spirit.

Unfortunately, not everyone understands the definition of Haute Couture, or high fashion. Here is a brief one for you.

Haute couture is a “protected name” that can be used only by brands that meet certain well-defined standards. The term is also used loosely to describe all high-fashion custom-fitted clothing, whether produced in Paris or in other fashion capitals such as Milan, London, Rome, New York and Tokyo. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, fancy fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.

Creations by French designer Stephane Rolland were unveiled during his Spring/Summer 2008 Haute Couture collection show in Paris on June 30.

The collection was a total blast compare to some high names. Not many fashion houses can say with pride that they are the leading force for the more contemporary young client. Unfortunately, most of Haute Couture doesn’t win hearts, it only gets appreciated as pieces of art, but Rolland’s work is that I would love to wear.

Moreover, we’re talking about the collection with new identity. I can see celebrities like or wearing Stephane Ronaldo’s clothes.

Karl Lagerfeld, for Chanel, built ultra elegant frocks out of stiff fabrics. His skirts and sleeves are sticking out in silhouettes: the simple skirts, hourglass dresses and satin column skirts. Karl composed “spaghetti” from frothed tulle frills and sheaves. Designer tried to catch the younger customer, with his short skirts, but he still has enough here for the superannuated customer.

Oh, these Chanel jackets in gunmetal and aluminum tweed! They shimmered with tube-like silver beading, fringing and crystals. Some were bound with 3-D piping to reflect the traditional Chanel trim. Loved the frames around models’ heads.

Knee-skirts were cut bubble-style look cute and a bit childish… but in a good way, Nabokov’s Lolita in high tech surroundings.

a mix of modernist and medieval with overtones of Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi masterpiece, ‘Metropolis’, as the 64-piece collection moved from day to after-dark, with models’ faces framed by “square” halos.”

I absolutely agree with the Telegraph’s blogger Hilary Alexander, who has also attended the German designer Karl Lagerfeld show, and, was also sitted in the front row just like she always is.

As Paris Fashion Week got all the fashion freaks world wide going crazy there are few designers that have made it so very haute couture that it is off the top. Extreme femininity and a sheer in your heart is a natural reaction to Christian Lacroix works. More of an art, rather than just fashion.

Christian Lacroix

Just as was expected lots of black, gothic lace, bows, pearls, rhinestones and some embroidery. Imagine all of that in the all-glass Pompidou centre. Imagine another thing! Each Lacroix dress takes about 400 hours to make.

Oh, yes, I would wear it!

Jean-Paul Gaultier’s ornate bodice “cages” and skirts were literally sculpted from thick sausages of silk satin, looped and twirled like cornelli lace.

Not impressed at all. It kinds of gets too old and ugly: does anyone want to look like a cake these days? Moreover, PETA hates you for using too much fur.

One of the few things I liked was the new idea for fringe. The bright underline is very playful. It looks like it was sprayed right on the forehead.

Overall, call me a bitch, but I find Gaultier’s collection this year extremely ugly and I would never wear it for this ammount of money, well, even if I was payed by the house to wear it. Don’t want to look like the Cruella de Vil. Really.

Refined luxury is the definition of Valentino’s Alessandra Facchinetti’s first haute couture show during the Paris Fashion Week. The house’s new creative director describes the collection as ‘couture for wearing’.

The designer said:

I am continuing here what I started with the Valentino pret-a-porter collection: once again, there is no frantic search for trend.

It’s couture without theatricality, which cares about functionality - something clothes should always have. Valentino was a master of that. But there’s nothing nostalgic in my approach.”

Alessandra is 35, and is the daughter of Roby Facchinetti, leader of the timeless Italian rock band Pooh, and sister of rapper DJ Francesco.

She worked for Gucci for two years, followed by Tom Ford, and has also designed for Moncler Gamme Rouge.

Nobody was expecting young successor Alessandra Facchinetti to make anything approaching Valentino’s refinement. And she did it right with her first attempt at a couture collection since being appointed.

Valentino has been popular with famous, well-dressed women for more than four decades, including Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, , , , , , , , , and Gwenyth Paltrow.

And of course, the final dress out on the catwalk was a red one - Valentino custom that proves his memory is very much alive and well in Paris.

The legend definetly continues.

“Repensar, reciclar, renovar” is the slogan of the 13th Rio Fashion Week. This year, the event is focused on renovation and recycling processes, which are indispensable both for the planet safeguard and the fashion industry.

Among the prestigious 40 showcases by Brazilian designers there is exciting 2009 swimwear show from Lenny.

Again, there is the trendy one-shoulder-stripe one-piece swimsuit just like the 2008 Gucci one. It is fantastic in cherry red and even better in metallic dark blue. Being a full piece in the front it reveals the graceful back.

High street fashion is the direction the world is going for in 2009. I can see wearing Lenny. If you’re an indigo party girl this is a collection you can be heading for, though some pieces of the collection have the more natural safari look to it.

The summer is ought to be hot: go for high street fashion or safari. My suggestion is that roundy busty girls go for safari and skinny long legged beauties do high street. You decide.

Mixing must be on edge. Extended elongated bracelets are excellent addition to any swim suit.

Click to watch the entire showcase.

Miss Provocateur

  • Stirring things up!

  • Did you ever provoke a fight with your guy? You love getting on his nerves because that makes him so obscure and funny – “cute” so we say. No, you’re not sadistic. Just the fact that after the make up, it feels so sweet to be the conqueror- to have the feeling of power! To feel the situation is under your control - to cause a fight and then to stop it. Isn’t it just so dramatically sweet to push the edges once in a while?

I love pushing his triggers. Some may think I’m an evil witch, but I’m simply making our relationship tempered, exciting, resolute, pert.

If you intentionally get into a fight with him – you are not sick in a head (and no, you’re not just a bitch). Scientists say that a healthy relationship is a relationship where there are arguments, and any argument needs a solution, right? That takes out our negative energy and brings us closer.

  • Breaking Rules

  • No matter how obvious it sounds most of the rules have been created long before us. By rules I mean systematized experience of previous generations, like handshakes and etiquette, and things like going for a social smoke. There is a rule that ladies go in first into any door except the elevator.

But rules are a need for the sense of stability around one. Society needs rules to forecast the effect of a cause, to have at least some confidence of the future. And this is what disappoints people. This is when they lose their confidence because things appear not the way they expected them to be. Those who were really dependent on expectations suffer from facing the world that is unpredictable, that the rules they believed in didn’t work at some turning point.

So they say that only fools learn through their own mistakes. Don’t you remember your mom telling you not to stick your tong out and put it against the metallic balcony railing when it’s freezing cold outside? Why did I skip my SPSS class with that macho from senior class? All of my friends were telling me he was a player and had nothing else in his head except for getting laid. Why do we learn things only after we go through them? This is what humans are like.

  • Sex Agenda

  • Inspired by “fuck” conversation last Saturday, which is a very delicate subject.

All of us, living in a fast growing temper of big cities are busy. We go to work, go to college full time, or have kids to take care of. There are plenty of things to do. When crazy week days are over we have yoga or tango classes, and shopping to do aside the chorus, french classes and getting a good sleep.

When is there time for sex?

The right answer would be - there is always time for sex. But the stress and busyness lead some couples to pencil their intimacy. It is logical, simple and hot to know that your schedule after works has a mark “Ryan 8 pm”. It is exciting to feel the anticipation, but on the other hand do we feel it is comfortable to set up our special moments with an important person for us on a basis of a scheduled task? It seems awkward to plan it, it is out of style, especially for femme-fatale like me, but even when sex is spontaneous, in every woman's head it is always planned. (wink!)

I wanted to go to the park and have a cup of espresso at the patio outside the café on the bridge.

I asked him to wait for me and he walked me carrying the umbrella. I hate it cause when he does it he always sings “Under my umbrella, ella-ella-ella…” Rihanna’s song, you know.
